How it all started...

It began in 1975 just before Christmas. While searching for an old doll’s stove for our little daughter’s doll house we found a beautiful stove with water boiler in a junk shop in Freiburg. Although it was much too big for the doll’s housekitchen, after some huming and hawing we bought it. This purchase was the beginning of an ardent passion for collection.
Over the years the collection became so extensive, that we decided to set up a small museum.
Today the collection extends to more than 50 dollrooms, shops and kitchens from 1830’s to 1960’s. The bulk of the collection lies within the earlier period to 1950’s. Our aim is to strive for authenticity in thepresentation of the objects.

Items from the collection have appeared in various calendars and have also been exhibited in the Palace of Bruchsal, in the city museums of Dresden and Hagen as well as Ulm and Austria so the collection is well known outwith the borders of Baden-Wurttemberg. We are constantly expanding our contacts to other European museums.

What awaits you...

It is often the smallest and cuttest toy that gives the greatest pleasure bringing back fond memories. Another aspect of the collection which will fascinate you still more is the world in miniature showing home decor and fashion of the period in a very small place. These little rooms bring vividly to life the different periods starting from the simple Biedermeier or the diverse Historismus, the decorative Art Nouveau, the Art Déco of the 1920’s, not forgetting the kidney shaped dressing table, cone shaped lamp and rubber plant of the 1950’s.
The size of the museum makes it possible for us to give the visitor our individual attention.

Extracts from the visitor’s book:
...the visit to the museum was the high-light of our holiday.
...the outstanding attention to detail is evident.
...an inspiring presentation
